For Public Safety agencies, these tools provide a platform to streamline government communications and services through knowledge bases, access to networked resources, real-time data communications and reporting, wireless access, multi-media delivery, integrated self-service options, location-based services and cross-agency information sharing. This session will review the different tools that are currently being used by Public Safety agencies and the practical and policy implications that the use of these tools will have on agency to citizen and citizen to agency interaction. Wednesday, August 10 - 8:00am- 9:15am "What will be expected from your agency with the advent of NG9-1-1? How do you plan for changes in equipment necessary to handle new demands? What training will be necessary for 9-1-1 personnel and the public? What will the cost be? Who will pay for these changes? Should I plan for additional changes? This session will be a positive, in depth discussion of these looming questions. Attendees should leave the session prepared to embark on the change management processes for the implementation and support of NG9-1-1 operations." Wednesday, August 10 - 9:30am- 10:45am
Obtaining funding for public safety technology in today’s difficult economic times requires more than a quote from your favorite vendor. The old “You have to fund it because public safety needs it” line will not suffice. You must be able to justify the expenditure in a simple, professional format that answers hard questions. This session will help attendees work through the process of creating a business case to help receive support for their projects.
